CraftVera is a first start-up group of Kashmiri Master Artisans, which brings the Artists/ Artisans and a customer on a platform where they can directly deal with genuine products, Under the supervision of awardee artisans Mr. Basheer Ahmad and Syed Hussain both are artisans themselves.

The Story, How it Came into being, infact, a long back in 1986’s started in Mumbai, the bollywood city of India with most famous Renowned Artist, Sculptor, curator, South Asia’s iconic design professional and thinker and Padsma Bhushan, Mr. Rajeev Sethi, we have been in the field of Handmade Kashmiri Craft - Papier Mache, Enamelware, and Willow Wicker, etc for the last 60 years.

CraftVera with the ardent help of KVIC ( Khadi and Village Industries Commission) is a central Govnernment Department for developing the vulnerable section of the society especially women. Our vision to tackle the roots and not the symptoms of poverty leading to unskilled youth useless.

Our main aim is to reconcile the fraction between People, Technology, Nature, Culture Preservation, Handicraft and traditional art. Handmade items cannot be duplicated, but yet the new ones be customized, it is crafted in the environment of love, Joy and in hardship too. That is why Handmade Matters a lot and to give respect to and supporting handmade means to give continuing life to human, vulnerable artisans and supporting their livelihoods.

We thus empower the unskilled youth especially women by improving their skill level and thus employment /livelihood option mostly via handicraft – the skill mostly all of them inherit.

Today, CraftVera is supporting more than 60 craftspeople in which most are women artisans, through designs and various interventions, craftspeople are now earning 4 times more livelihood by income through orders.
